Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo, HDMI 1080p Up-Conversion, No Tuner
I received the item quickly. However the DVD drawer was inoperative. A phone call to the vendor yielded an apology and a return ticket via email in 10 minutes or less. They paid for the return. Two weeks later I received a replacement unit. Hey, things happen. They made good very quickly. In a perfect world everything works all the time - even me! I admit, it can be a little daunting to use. It can play VHS and DVD and record VHS and DVD and copy a tape to DVD and DVD to tape. With all those features and the portocalls they all require expect the directions to be involved and the remote to have more buttons than a clown suit. There is no other way. I bought it primarily to record my tapes to DVD. It's a job that it does very well. But you need to read the instructions and follow them carefully. To those that it may not seem intuitive to when you transfer a TAPE to DVD it is called DUBBING not recording. There is an inportant distinction. If you don't understand this you will wind up ruining your tapes as record over them thinking you are transferring. Another thing to keep in mind is that DVD's need to be FINALIZED. There is a process in the machine that is outlined in the manual that needs to be done. Otherwise the disc will only play in this machine and not another. Your computer does this automatically when you go to eject a disc that you have burned on your computer but it needs to be manually done, by selecting the menu option with the remote, on this machine. If people would just read the manual and follow the instructions carefully it would avoid the negative comments that this machine has garnered. As to how long it will last ... I'll see, but I have no complaints. For the price this is a good deal. - Customer Reviews
